Happy Easter!

Happy Easter!  

Today was a good day!  The kids had a blast and so did I.

The morning started out with Easter baskets and Easter egg hunt.  Then the egg decorating competition began!  The kiddos had a great time, and the $5.00 prize was definitely incentive!

Now on to the food.  Or should I say juice.  :(

Had my juice for breakfast and my juice for lunch.  Getting ready to have my juice for dinner.  I have to say that it really isn't as bad as I thought it would be.  My mind is playing havoc on me cause I want food.  ANY food!  I could just about eat anything right now!  Not that I am really hungry, I just want food!

I am addicted to food.  I eat and eat and eat.  Even though  I know that my body can't be hungry, I still eat.  I just like the taste of food.  That is going to be my biggest hurdle when I stop juicing: eating!  

Sandy and I walked a mile today and it started raining on us.  Dangit!  We were going to walk the full 3 miles today and I was timing us with my pedometer.  We had planned on going back to the track and trying again, but figured we would just wait.

So all in all, it has been an EXCELLENT day!  Just chillin with the kiddos, hubster, and my juice!  lol

It's finally FRIDAY.....






You will probably see that as my post title every Friday!  lol

I seriously LOVE the weekends!  I can't (literally can't) get enough weekend days!

This week seemed especially long.  I can barely remember Monday and Tuesday.  Couldn't really tell you what I did those days.  Good thing I have a blog so I can go back and check if I wanna know that bad.  Right?  :-)

I went to mom and dads to pick up the girls, and mom had made spaghetti and garlic bread!  One of my all -time favorite meals!  I could smell the aromas as soon as I walked in the house!  I about passed out!  lol  But I was good!  No spaghetti or garlic bread for this one!

My juice fast went well today.  I got extremely hungry around lunch time and the hunger feelings are still lingering.  I really, really want to eat solid food.  Did I tell you that I really, really want to eat solid food yet?  "Cause I do!  This juice thing is kind of blah!  I am hoping that I see a good weigh loss out of it.

Hubster and I were talking like night.  Like I may have mentioned previously, he is wanting to do a 60 day fast.  Wimpy me: 10 days!  We talked about maybe doing the juice for breakfast and lunch then having a really healthy dinner with lots of veggies.  I think that would be a better alternative then just juice 3 times a day.  That way our body (more like our mind) is getting solid food as well.

It's just a thought...we will see what next week brings!

I can honestly say that I am enjoying my juice today!  Can you believe it?  I was just gagging not even two days ago, and now I go as far as saying I like it!  Hubster has been trying some new improved recipes, and I must say they ARE an improvement!

I walked a little under a mile today.  Not sure why I am all of a sudden not able to walk the 3 miles like I had been doing.  Hubster thinks it has something to do with the juice fast, but I'm not so sure.

Registered my youngest daughter for Kindergarten today!  I can't believe that she is going to be 5 years old in July!  Where has the time gone?  It is like yesterday she was just a little baby, and now she is growing up on me!

Walk a mile....

It doesn't sound like much, but I walked a mile today and my legs didn't kill me!  YAY!  I did get new shoes and I stretched before I walked, so I am assuming (yes I know what they say about assuming) that these two things did the trick.  I was pretty tired, which is crazy cause a few weeks ago I was walking 2-3 miles and I was pretty much fine.

Regina, Angela, and Sandy are still walking at Barren Fork, which is a great place to walk.  It is just so late in the evening before we get to walk there, that I kind of don't like that.  It makes me miss out on the few hours that my kiddos are up and at 'em.

I think that I may start going back over there and walking maybe 2 times a week (Tuesday & Thursday) and that I will just do my Wellness Plan hours around here.  That way I still get the extra mileage in, I can see my friends, and spend time with my kids. :-)

I had juice today.  Juice for breakfast.  Juice for lunch.  You guess it, juice for dinner.  Yummy.  (secretly gagging as I said that).  Today's juice really wasn't THAT BAD!  It had more of a grapefruit taste to it, so I can handle that.  I honestly think that it is just in my mind.  SERIOUSLY!  Just the thoughts of it, and looking at the juice-which my sister so politely described it as "the water that is left in the toilet after you have diarrhea   REALLY GROSS!  Made me want to gag just thinking ahout it.  Her description left bad mental images in my poor brain.

Gag reflect



Well, my juices are coming out green (as above) or brown.  Needless to say, these juices ARE NOT good! :-(

The hubster seems pretty dedicated.  He plans on doing the juice fast for 60 days, where I plan on doing it for 10 days.  I am honestly not sure if I can last 10 days.  It is seriously that bad!  If it was more of a fruit based juice it wouldn't be that bad, but as soon as a veggie is added, the juice takes on the taste of the veggie.

Don't get me wrong, I love me some vegetables, but the vegetable juice: YUCKY!!

I did take a glass of ice cold water this morning and alternate drinking the juice with the water, and that seemed to work pretty well.  It washed the YUCKY taste out of my mouth pretty quick.  I may have to do that from now on when I drink the juice.  Anything that helps, helps....

We started te juice fast Sunday, and according to the scales I am down 3 lbs!  That is the positive.  I think that it is water weight cause I have been peeing like crazy!  I go pee half a dozen times from one glass of juice it seems like.  Really, I am not joking!  lol But I do have a small bladder I think.

My four year old, Lily, had pizza hut pizza on the way home from Lexington yesterday.  Needless to say that was torture on me.  I could see the pizza, smell the pizza, just couldn't taste the pizza.  It took a lot of will power not to just grab it and gobble it down.  Why does the good food have to be so bad for you?

Wish me luck on my juices today.  I think that I am going to need it!

Juicing it up....

Juice.  You would think that juice would be good, but juicing is hard cause the taste of veggies and fruits mixed together, not that appealing to my taste buds.  Hubster and I started our juice detox (I like to call it a juice diet but he goes all crazy saying it's not a diet).

I had a 16 oz. cup of juice for breakfast, which was honestly not bad.  Then I had a 16 oz. juice for lunch that made me gag when I was drinking it.  :-(   I LOVE carrots, but the carrot taste was so prominent in the juice that I could barely handle swallowing it. I have a pitcher of that juice, and I have to finish drinking it before we make another type of juice.  I am honestly not sure if I can drink it or not.

Hunger feelings?  Not so much.  The juice is pretty feeling.  My stomach hasn't been growling but my mind is messing with me.  I just WANT something solid to eat.  I keep thinking about different foods, and all the fruits that are in the fridge!  It makes me just want to go eat them!  Why can't I simply just eat the fruits and veggies?  It would taste so much better than the juice!

I did walk about a mile yesterday.  My shins did better.  They started hurting a wee bit when I was close to finishing up, but not near as bad as the other days then I walked.  Hopefully I can continue to walk and get my legs built up!

I was going to go walking today but the weather has been nasty.  It has been raining all day, and now it is storming.  So no walking today.

I think that I am going to try to walk at the gym tomorrow after work.  I get an hour for my wellness plan, so instead of coming home to walk, I think that I will walk in the gym so maybe I can walk a little further and not worry about being stuck on the side of the road if my legs/shins start hurting me.

I just realized that it is after 6:00 p.m.  Should I attempt another juice or go without for the night?  THAT is the question....

Shin splints



Medial tibial stress syndrometibial periostitis or shin splints is a common injury that affects athletes who engage in running sports or physical activities such as cross country, marching band, football, or hiking.This condition is characterized by pain in the lower part of the leg between the knee and the ankle. 

I think that I have shin splints!  I feel like a hypochondriac!  First it's my left knee (which I go back to the doctor on the 28th to find out the MRI results) , now it's my shins.

I so hope that isn't the problem!  I don't want to have shin splints!  I just want to be able to walk and exercise and get healthy!  I want to walk in the 5k in May!

The last two days (as I have whined about in my two previous posts) have been hell on my legs.  My lower legs.  My shin area!  I couldn't figure out why, then today my sister said it sounds like shin splints.  So what did I do?  I Googled it and and sure enough that's what it sounds like.  

I mean why could I walk 3 miles just 2 days ago, and now I can barely do 1 mile and my legs hurt like the dickens?  It has too be something, I don't think that it is in my mind!  Today I am not going to walk, I am going to give my legs a wee rest.  So hopefully tomorrow I will be able to walk more than a mile again.  I am also going to find me a new pair of shoes. I have had these for a couple of years, and the internet said that shoes could be a contributing factor to shin splints.  Hopefully that will be an easy solution and things will be back on tracke tomorrow!  Cross your fingers and say a little prayer that the shoes are the solution! 

On to happier things...  My hubster and I are going to Lexington tonite, so that should be a lot of fun!  Will give you details (some details-;lol) tomorrow.  :-)

What's up with that?

I just walked a little over a mile and my legs are on FIRE again!  WTH!  I had been walking 2-3 miles but with out all this pain.  Now I don't know whats going on.  It is very discouraging.  :-(

Hubster, the girls and I went and watched Oz in 3D last night.  It was pretty good, better than I expected anyway.  

 Tomorrow is the hubsters birthday, he will be 33.  We are going to Lexington to eat and spend the night.  So that should be fun.  I am thinking that I am going to treat him to BD's Mongolian Grill.  They have really good food and you can customize your order (lots of veggies vs. lots of meat).  There also isn't bread/rolls to tempt me there...

My legs are finally starting to calm down.  I am really frustrated with them right now.  I really, really want to do the 5k race in May but at this pace I may not be ready.  :'(

Walking, walking, walking.  That says it all!  That is what I have done every day for the last 2 weeks.  I have been walking with Regina, Sandy, and Angela but walked by myself today because I am not going to be able to walk with them tonite.  Taking the girls and my hubster to see Oz.

I have been walking 2-3 miles per day, and today it literally almost killed my legs to walk for 1 mile.  WTH!  I am not sure what that is all about but I almost dropped off the side of the road and laid in the grass today.  I feel like such a wimp!  What is wrong with my legs!

My knee was hurting a little more today then it normally does, but it was my lower legs that were BURNING and on FIRE!!  This girl was on fire.....  Okay, okay... Corny I know!  lol

I did well on my food choices so far today.  Had a Weight Watchers Smartone for breakfast and lunch.  Going to have a little bit of popcorn at the movies.  So all in all, I pretty good food day.

Well, I', going to run (not literally).  Time to pick up the girls.  :-)
